Savoring Summer Memories Through Junk Journaling

☀️ 📖 🌅 As the long days of summer start to fade, there’s always that bittersweet feeling in the air. The sun sets a little earlier, the nights grow cooler, and the carefree pace of summer slowly gives way to routines and schedules 📚. But one of the most beautiful parts of being a junk journaler is that we have the power to hold onto those moments, preserving them in a way that feels personal, creative, and lasting.

✈️ Travel journals are one of my favorite ways to capture summer. Whether it was a big vacation across the country or a simple day trip to the lake, every experience can find a place between the pages. Ticket stubs, maps, receipts, postcards, even the pressed flowers you picked along the way—these little scraps of everyday life become treasures when tucked into a journal.

Junk journaling allows us to revisit the laughter, the scenery, the small surprises, and the big adventures long after summer has passed. A photograph may show the moment, but layering it with handwritten notes ✍️, colorful ephemera, and found pieces adds texture and depth that tell the whole story. It’s about more than just remembering where you went—it’s about preserving how you felt while you were there—all the ups and the downs.

As the season shifts, take time to gather your summer keepsakes and dedicate a few pages to celebrating them. Create collages of your favorite beach days, write about the meals that made you smile, or simply jot down reflections on the people you spent time with. These journals become more than memory books—they’re reminders that even though summer may be ending, its joy and warmth can be carried with us all year long.

So as you pack away the swimsuits and bring out the sweaters, don’t forget to capture those fleeting golden days of summer in your journal. Each page will be a window back to sunshine, freedom, and adventure—your own creative time capsule of a season well-lived.

Happy Crafting!
