My name is Jolyn, and I’m a proud grandmother in my 50s to two wonderful children. I originally studied graphic design back in the late 1980s to early 1990s, a time when “digital marketing” wasn’t even a glimmer in our creative eyes. Back then, marketing was all about print ads, direct mail, and the occasional TV spot. Oh, how times have changed!

Today, I want to share my journey and insights on how digital marketing can lead to financial freedom, and how it has opened up new opportunities for people like you and me to make money online.

When I first entered the world of graphic design, our tools were pencils, paper, and an array of markers. Designing an ad was a hands-on, tangible process with mock-ups and hand drawn lettering. Fast forward to today, and we have an entire digital landscape at our fingertips. The internet has revolutionized how we communicate, shop, and yes, market.

Digital marketing encompasses everything from social media campaigns and email newsletters to search engine optimization (SEO) and pay-per-click (PPC) advertising. It’s a far cry from the days of print ads and billboards. The beauty of digital marketing is its accessibility and the myriad of ways it allows us to connect with audiences around the globe.

My Journey into Digital Marketing

As a graphic designer turned digital marketer, I’ve seen firsthand how these new tools can transform a business. A few years ago, I decided to take the leap and start my own business. What started as a way to combine my love of art and crafts quickly turned into a passion. I had caught the "junk journal" bug and even though I had been journaling since I was ten years old, this was a whole new way of journaling for me and I LOVED it! Not only did it combine my love of journaling, but also my love of nostalgia (I secretly wanted to be an archeologist as a youngster but biology was not my strength!). 

What I still needed to learn though, was how to market my passion. I decided to check into going back to school since that seemed to be the only missing piece. I did not want a student loan, so I stumbled upon this online course that seemed to be exactly what I was looking for and it was so affordable! I knew instantly it was what I needed. After going through the course, I discovered that the skills I honed in traditional graphic design were incredibly valuable in the digital realm. Visual storytelling, design principles, and creativity are just as important online as they were in print.
